The following are rare reported of uncommon side effects associated with Pantocid (pantaprazole):

• Thrombophlebitis and peripheral edema around the injection area.

• Incidents of anaphylactic reactions in patients, which includes anaphylactic shocks.

• Boost of liver enzymes (transaminases, g-GT); prominent triglycerides; augmented body heat.

• Myalgia

• Mental dejection, illusion, confusion and perplexity, particularly in inclined patients.

• Interstitial nephritis

• Urticaria; Angioedema; Extreme skin effects such as Stevens- Johnson- Syndrome; Photosensitivity; Erythema Multiforme; Lyell- Syndrome

• Leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Dosage and Administration

Pantocid I.V. injections are suggested only if the patient can’t undergo oral application. Pantocid I.V. injections recommended dosage is 40mg per day (pantaprazole40 mg) for treating Duodenal Ulcer, moderate or severe reflux esophagitis and gastric ulcer.

For treating Zollinger- Ellison- Syndrome and other pathological hypersecretory ailments, a daily dose of 80 Mg Pantocid I.V. injections is recommended to start off. The dosage can be increased or decreased as per requirement using tests measuring the generation of hydrochloric acid. Pantocid I.V. injections above 80 mg should be administered in two dosages daily. A short period increase of Pantocid I.V. injections up to 160 Mg is possible for controlling acid secretion, but it should not used for a prolonged period of time.

In patients requiring quick acid inhibition a starting dose of Pantocid I.V. injections 160 mg is good enough to control the situation within an hour of intravenous administration of Pantocid. Patients should administer oral Pantocid as soon as it is clinically acceptable.
